Default change trasmission oil after 185k km 115k mi

Hello to all,

I would like to submit a question that does not give me sleep:

After about 30 000 km from the day I bought my XJ, I think it's time to change oil and filter transmission 4-speed Aisin AW-4 automatic.
After reading forum and post about it and I do not know if make it or not. :-(
They say that after many miles do not open the oil box (pandora box :-|) as the' new oil could damage the mechanism. And many have had the experience of slipping .... bohhh

I do not know what to do in reality. Ever since I bought it I feel that after 19k mi has lost a bit of power, I'll explain: when I give gas, before it was a lion, not anymore. We say that is a little more heavy...! Perhaps it is due to the trasmission ... also there is a little bit of delay before changing gear, I think . I found an oil that is recommended for transmissions after 75k mi of Valvoline MaxLife ... ® DEX / MERC ATF recommended for Dexron I-II-III and VI.

someone has already had experiences in this regard?
recommended to remove all the oil or change only 3-4 quarts (3.6L)!

Ah specific that all checks have been made from time to time, at least for my 30 000 km. First I do not know ....

filters, oil, etc.

IDEAS?

Don't know what is that...:-( I am Italian and I don't understand most of the mechanical vocabulary and even in Italian I'm not very PRO. I just love this car and from now trying to get as more info I can.

It affects the gear shifting timing how fast it upshifts and how easy it down shifts thus affecting the fell of the lion ...

It can affect the acceleration fell . Do you have a transmission switch on dash that says power/comfort by you right knee on dash board ?

Hey Freegdr!
I just figured out where this cable was and now I remember that my mechanic fixed it with a plastic thing, cause the end of the cable (plastic cap ?) was broken and I couldn't use the control anymore cause the cable was of course unlinked...
Any wau since that day when I was use the cruise control wasn t so precise of course anymore. But I still dont get whats the connection with the fell of power...

thanks

this switch should always be in power position the cable under the hood regulates shifft pressure if a tranny shifts to fast it will fell slugish and will not down shift properly to accelerate faster . you will fell like you towing a trailer around behind you every where .

I change my AW-4's fluid every year. The pan holds about 2 quarts. Changing out 2 quarts each year keeps it fresh. At 152,000 miles, it still runs and shifts like new. Rumors about "never changing the transmission fluid" should be ignored.

Valvoline Dex/Merc ATF will work fine. If you can find it, Mobil One Synthetic ATF is the best fluid you can get, and the only fluid I use.

Best of luck, and have fun with your Jeep!
