Default Center vent removal?

Whats behind the center vent in the dash? Can it be removed and have enough room to use it as a place to mount a CB inside of? Or is it not deep enough.

I was just wondering if its all exposed back there, so does everything get the same amount of heat, or does that vent have its own duct work? I'd just be worried about a ton of heat hitting the CB when the heat is turned on.

Well first I would like to say welcome to CF and 2nd sorry but I cant say about the heat issue because I have kind of wondered about that myself. Maybe just eliminate the vent and add a small tube to bypass it?
