Original console latch busted probably 10 years ago. A month ago I replaced it with one from Amazon. It was tight, knew it wouldnt last. It didnt. I dont want to do this again. Any suggestions on a latch that will fit and last?
It was quite awhile ago, but the latch on my console was broken when I bought my Jeep. IIRC I went to a dealer and they were able to get me a new OE one along with various other broke or missing parts. Haven't had an issue with it since.
You talking about this:

Well not cheap but pretty sure it won't break again:

Like Ralph said, New is expensive.
Junkyard is cheap.... if you can find one.
Another thought. I've been bringing in up the fact that we now have 3D printing in our lives. If you know someone with a machine that can use the plastic that dries really hard and would last a long time, you could do that. Or find a company that can print one for you.?.?.?.?.?

There is also 3D metal printing these days as well.... Not sure of its properties, but I bet it lasts. Probably something similar to cast iron.... or better.

To be frank with you when I see them in the boneyard I grab them.
Replaced the one when I first got the XJ and since have grabbed a couple more.
Still working on breaking the first one. LOL.
So I stopped grabbing them. MLOL.
One boneyard I deal with is a customer of the store.
I grab something like that, show them what I have, and they just look at me funny.
And then just tell me to go away. EMLOL.

I love the "bribe" that's not really a bribe per se, but motivation for future cooperation hahahaha.
