tried searching and couldn't find much help cel code is for misfire cylinder 2 has all new spark plugs, new fuel injection in cylinder 2, new coil. jeep starts and runs fine tried clearing the code and it comes back the next day. read somewhere that a blown cat or bad 02 sensor could cause it as well. one of the 02 sensors is brand new on the cat the other i'm gonna replace this weekend just wonder if anyone has any experience or ideas on where to check before I start blowing time and money.

Multiple cylinder misfire and #2 misfire? Have you checked your fuel pressure?
How old is the CPS? Wiring good and connector clean and tight?
The cat would be pretty far down my list if the engine starts and runs fine, but the '96 does have a known cat problem- and a lifetime recall for replacement.
