Depends on your "radio Shack".... our local one couldn't tell you anything about CB's... but they will sell you a phone.

For the ones recommending 102" whips of all flavors....There are many clubs, parks and organized rides that do not allow 102" whips because of the danger of an almost 9 foot steel whip flapping around uncontrolled...

BTW.... For those that understand the science.. ever wonder why one of those antennas is 102 inches??? 1/4 wavelength would be 109 inches at 26.965 Mhz.. and 107 inches at 27.405....

The internet has everything that Radio Shack knows nothing about.

No drilling, which makes them easier to mount. If anyone wants to steal it though, they can just walk up, pluck it off, and cut the cord.

I used http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...ductId=2062088 and so far it's worked great. It requires you to drill some holes in the side-panel of your Jeep, but you shouldn't be afraid of a little modification, right?

I'll try and get some pics for you of where I mounted mine later on when it's not 22 degrees outside.

FWIW, my first CB was a Radio Crap, er I mean Shack. I will never buy another one. It lasted about 6 months before it was useless. Uniden and Cobra make nice units and yes they're more expensive. You get what you pay for. I think the CB cost about $150 (9 yrs ago) and the antenna was around $30-$40.
Love this set up man. I think this is what I want to do. Does the radio get in the way at all when your driving?

I can't speak for him, but that's where I originally mounted mine, and I had no issues with knee clearance. Your mileage may vary with what radio you go with, but for the most part you should be fine.

Not really. I'm 6'1" and occasionally my knee will brush it, but I've never really had any clearance problems with it and it's been in that spot for several years.
