Default CB Radio...

Looking for some mounting ideas so post your pics!
Post pics of your antenna's too!

1) What are some good brands?

2) What should I expect to pay?

3) Where did you run your wires to hide them?

Thanks!

some of my friends that have after market rear bumpers mounted the antennas to them. it looks really cool but he forgot to add a spring and it broke. ill find some pictures.

another one of my friends has an xj beater and he mounted it right above the tailight with a homebrew bracket. he ran the wires right along the tailight wires. once again i will try to get some pictures

like i said its just his beater and he did a bad job. good idea for the location but he welded part of it to the body and used white caulking to go around it. its a black xj too...i personally like the bumper idea and i am going to do it as soon as i get my new rear bumper/tire carrier

I really like the placement of the antenna, I think I'm planning on doing something similar, that's clever.

sometimes with mounting them to aftermarket bumpers is a pain, especially if its really thick steel. i have a wilson flex antenna. firestik is also a good brand. as for the radio, cobra is good, uniden, etc. check out www.walcottcb.com for some good stuff.

heres the mount for my antenna.

heres where my radios mounted. for some people this would be in the way, but i like it and have gotten used to it. it doesnt really bother me since in not that tall. if you dont like that you can do it on the console on the P side, or down by your steering wheel. you can do the overhead mounting by making your own hardware, use some form of plywood to screw it into or i've also seen people utilize the screws on the sun visors.

Yeah, did you drill holes for the bracket? What are the details to make it work?

Here is my radio mount. That is the dome light hole right next to it. It faces the front of the jeep. I can have the radio barely turned on and I can hear it perfectly over all the other noises inside of the Jeep.

Here is the antenna. It uses a ball mount and a spring. It does bounce around some and smack the side of the Jeep. But its not too annoying.

So no new drilling required? I like that... Can you buy those brackets anywhere?
