I cannot remove this nut. i thought it would be the same size as tie rod nut at the ends by the wheels, but it’s smaller. Anyone know the size aka threat pitch and diameter so I can cut this one off and replace it?

 

They vary a little depending on the brand. Have you tried heat? It looks like some heat should do the trick to release it. Get it really hot.

 

I don’t have a way of grabbing the stud without destroying the rubber boot seal if I wanted to loosen it up. It should be the stock tie rod end from autozone

 

If you dont know the size just grab a couple sockets and wrenches and see which fits. If metric doesnt fit, try standard. And vice versa.

 

i meant thread pitch and diameter, not the socket size

 

you may wish to try an impact wrench on that nut. that can do wonders, even if the shaft tends to spin, the speed and force of the impact wrench can over come the nut anyway. I see a slot on the end of the shaft, if she is spinning in the tapered fit hole, perhaps a screw driver in the slot with a 6 point bot wrench on nut will do the trick. Heat is a great idea, but you need high heat in order to rapidly heat the nut so as to not give time for heat to cook the grease in the joint. Use a torch for that, fine flame directed on the nut. a water soaked rag can help keep the tie rod cool.

Also many time replacement boots can be had, incase you tear the boot. Or destroy it and buying a new tie rod end.

I dont know the size as mine is non stock.
