hey guys I need a little help. My carpet under the rear seat (in the storage compartment) is soaked.

I was thinking maybe some water got in from a leak in the rear wheel well? Does anyone have any experience with this? I have a 1992 jeep cherokee laredo

Just wet there? You better check the carpet in the driver and passenger footwells

Does the rear window washer squirt normally?
Its hose runs to the back by that area and it
may be cracked.

It's just wet under the back seat. I'll check the rear window washer tomorrow and take pictures of the problem.

You picked up the carpet in the footwells to see? If it's soaked under the rear bench seat it has to be wet father up. I would pull the carpet and let everything dry and then look for leaks.

Have you crawled under the jeep to look for rust in the floor pan in that area ?

I had a leak in the rear wheel well similar to what you describe. It was around the bracket for the top rear seat, the sheet metal was cracked around that bracket area. Leaked right down under rear seat. Found it by removing all carpet in back, then got the hose out and sprayed all places under jeep and when i got to wheel well water came in. Found a leak at tip of roof rail same way, except I removed rear plastic trim inside..

first off, thanks to everyone for the suggestions!

I think the problem may be what Oswalla described. I've attached some pictures. There's no water in the front seats, just underneath the right side of the rear seat.

How easy is it to pull out the carpet? Should I just take it to a body shop? It looks like it's rusting underneath the carpet :/

Quarter window seal?
Not hard at all to pull all the carpet out of it, then you can see what you are working with.

Just need to remove rear seat back, drill out or cut around metal loops in cargo floor and remove the bolts holding the spare tire bracket in the cargo floor. Can't remember if the shoulder belts need unbolting. Then carpet comes out.
