This thing has me absolutely confused. It only comes on when I open either front door; not when I open the hatch. Today, I messed with it a little. I ran a temporary ground to it, then it came on along wih all the other interior lights with the hatch opened. I hit the switch on the cargo lamp and it turned all the other lamps off, leaving the cargo lamp illuminated. With that said, now when I open either front door, all lights except the cargo lamp come on. Is that the correct way it should function?

the switch that turns it on when you open the hatch should be in the tailgate latch assembly

the button is just a circuit breaker to turn the lights off

I'm all good now. All interior lights come on when I open either front door... or all except the cargo lamp (if I depress the cargo lamp switch). And if I open the tailgate, just the cargo lamp comes on; unless I depress the cargo lamp switch (then all interior lights come on). I like that set up.
