I am shopping for 1bbl carter YFA to return my 85 pioneer 2.5L to stock. Pre-owner has installed a 1bbl rochester. the best price I have found is from an on line used parts place is $160.00. supposedly a working carb with a 30 day warranty. anyone know of a better deal? thanks

They are becomming harder to find since everything is FI now. I am unsure what a good price would be but that sounds reasonable for this part of the country. It may be different where you live.

this place has one for 50:

here is one for 75:

these are results from searching www.car-part.com for an 85 cherokee with the 2.5
160 with a warranty is a good price though- I would probably do that or buy a junk one for 50 bucks and rebuild it myself.
good luck.

I have contacted the yard, Jones to buy the $50. carburetor. I will rebuild it for my pioneer. The car parts .com site is exactly the site I needed.
many thanks to all.

This site that sells Mr Gasket Carburetor Cover probably sells carburetor too. Sorry for the bump but I think it would still help other visitors of this thread in locating one.

If you found a used one for $50, I would go with that. 1 barrel carters are easy to rebuild and the kit should be under $20. I purchased a commanche pick-up with a 4-cly and single barrel carter and looked on numerous sites for a new or rebuilt. New carburators were going for $350 and premium carbs were $425. AS stated carburators are very hard to find and expensive to replace. Even finding someone to install one is getting harder to find. The current shop techs are trained in multi-port fuel injection and ECM's and can't do very much without a code scanner.
My daughter crashed the truck before I could rebuild it.
Side line, I also have a 91 Pontiac Convertable with a 2.0L along with my 96 cherokee. The last time I took the Pontiac to the dealer for engine problems, they had to find the OLDEST mechanic who still remembers working on 19yr old cars.
