Default Can't get my Jeep to start!!

Okay, so I have a 1993 Jeep Cherokee Sport and I was going to my friends house and when I got there I turned my Jeep off and I couldn't get my key out. So I messed around with it for a little while and I finally got it to turn on. But then when I get it on I have to move the key back a little bit to make my accessories work. I bought a new ignition lock cylinder for it and put that in. But when I got all back together I tried to start it and it wouldn't start. It was doing the same thing that it was doing before but I can take the key out now. I tried to put it in neutral and start it but that wouldn't do anything. So I need your guy's help please!

Thanks

Yeah, It was my ignition switch. I tried putting it back on the column but I can't get it to work because when I turn the key on the rod that goes in the switch goes backwards but I need it to go forwards. My dad thinks I might have moved something around when I was changing out the ignition lock cylinder. So right now I just have it hanging and I use a screwdriver to turn it off and on.

Check the steering wheel lock? The lock could be jamming up or such. We had a car with a similar problem at the shop I work at and it turned out the steering wheel lock would not fully unlock.
