Dana 35. The 8.25 is identifiable by a flat 'lip' along the bottom, it's shaped more like a D than a 0.

Weakest axle you can have.

Worst to Best:
  • Dana 35
  • Chrysler 8.25 27-spline
  • Chrysler 8.25 29-spline
  • Dana 44
  • Ford 8.8 inch (disc brakes FTW)
Some people run D35s around without trouble, but if you get in mud or crawling, it'll probably break. Especially if you have larger tires on it.

D35's can handle a decent amount, I am running 35" tires on mine and have no problems, I also beat the crap out of it. We go mudding/trailing/climbing weekly at some harsh places.

Definitely, I had a DD with 4.5" and 33" MT's that ran for 5 years, than I took it off road and its still stuck, upside down, in the mud pit by my buddies house.

But my new dd is getting a 3" lift and 31" tires this weekend.
