Default Can these tires go n my rims

EDIT Made a mistake on the sizes

I currently have 205/75/R15 tires on my rims and they are getting pretty bald. Luckly I got a free set of new 205/65/R15 tires off of a totaled car. Will these new tires be able to replace my current ones?

No, the rim size is different

205 is the width, 75 is the side wall size, and 16 is the rim size

The other ones would be an inch to small to fit onto the rim itself

if you have the other tires on the other rims still, you could get lucky and them be the same bolt pattern

No I checked the bolt pattern the rims are off a ford and the bolt pattern is metric.

this is what the "ask the question" thread is for haha.

that "metric" bolt pattern could be 5 x 114.3, which is identical to your 5 X 4.5 "standard" pattern on the XJ

Yes they will fit, but they will be shorter. Whatever works for you though.

Why would they be shorter I thought the middle number just had to do with the width of the tire?

The new tires will be exactly 1.6 inches shorter than the old ones. In other words, the tire/rim diameter is 1.6 inches less.

Diameter (new)= [(205)(.65)]/25.4X2+15 = 25.5
Diameter (old) = [(205)(.75)]/25.4X2+15 = 27.1

My preference is 235/75/R15.

205 is the width in millimeters
65 is the percentage of the width, this is the sidewall height
15 is of course the circumference of the rim.

so in short, yes, the tires will fit the rims.
yes, the tire will be "shorter", but not all that noticeable.

The middle number is the sidewall height as a percentage of the first number (width).

So they are the same width (205mms) however one tires side wall height is only 65% of 205mms and the other is 75% of the 205mms.
