can i run my jeep with out fluid in the front rear

Default can i run my jeep with out fluid in the front rear

my axle seal is leaking very bad and i'd like to put it on a lift where i work to fix it , but im not sure if its ok to drive up there. its the front rear not the back , and i dont want to ruin my locker or anything

is it completely empty? i'd say no. i'd put some in it before u moved it. If your only moving it a couple feet it should be fine.

Agreed..

Consider the cost of a few quarts of lube vs the price of bearings and install.. pretty easy decision.

Once there you can replace the seals that are leaking and be out under $10 to ensure you dont damage anything. Wouldnt take long for a bearing to heat up if run dry.

I was wheeling with a kid once that smashed the diff in. He took it off and continued to ride the trails with no damage done. I wouldn't recommend doing it for long distances. On another note. I also have the same problem as you. I have only had to put one quart in it in the past 6 months.

sounds like you want a d30 pinion seal.
there are two listed for the xj. buy them both, then just return the one you didn't need.
