Can I put a dana 35 on a Jeep that had a 44?
Basically I found out my rear axle is bent
My jeep has a dana 44 rear axle and I was able to get a 35 axle for free. and I was wondering if its advisable to just switch the whole thing over and if it would cause any mechanical trouble in the future.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as no one seems to know the answer to this.

Most likely your going to have to swap driveshafts. If your xj is a 4x4 then make sure both axles have the same gearing. But other than that i don't foresee any problems with the swap. Sucks your 44 is bent.

Your fine to use the 35 permanently, the majority of xj's came with it. Its just not as strong as the 44.
