Default can I put 31's on a stock XJ cherokee???

I have a stock 99 Jeep Cherokee, can I put 31 " tires (mud terain) on it without putting a major lift on?? I have air shocks in the back so I can raise the rear, what the least expensive way to raise the front 1.5-2"??

Get you a 2 inch budget boost, you can get them for less than 150 bucks. You may have to do some trimming then again you may not it all depends on the Jeep.

yeah just google it or somethin, there are so many places to get them its not even funny, and you will have to trim a little at the bottom to fit those tires but not an outrageous amount

hey you could do the budget boost but you also could trim your fenders. i trimmed mine and i get minor rubbing in my jeep on sharp turns. i ahve no lift and trimmed fenders i have 31 10.50 alterrains on mine but if want no rubbing you could instead of spendin the money on the bb you could buy front springs off a grand from a junk yard ive heard that that will give you two inches of lift and then you could raise the air shocks you have in the back and you have a homemade budget boost. if this helps any.

You can but you might have to do some fender trimming

air shocks will get you clearance in the back, use 2" or 3" coil spacers up front, you can find them on ebay for $30 to $40. Also like jeeptilldeath said, you can go to a junk yard and get coils from a ZJ but be sure they come off a V8 model so you can get the full 2-2.5" of lift. The other models will only get you 1-1.5"

Take the front coils. Trimming is simple, search the build threads to see step by step with pics how to do it. I just took off my flares, and cut slits up about an inch and folded the fenders up and in.

I have seen the coil spacers on ebay for as little as $20. For the rear, you can always do a 2" block. Make sure they are steel and tack them to your axle. I've seen those w/U bolts at Advance Auto parts for $25. So for less than $50, you can fit your 31s. I would do that before trimming because you can't un-trim. But, if you really, honestly don't care about trimming, than that is the best option IMO.

http://www.rocklizardfabrications.co...dget_boost.htm

check that link out. Its basically a budget boost that netted him about 2.5 inches of lift using a main leaf from an xj and zj Front coils... It also lists shock part numbers that make the whole guessing thing easy as well as keeping it minimal in the effect on your pocket..

Heres another one: http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/...udget_Lift.htm
although it uses different rear leaf configuration but he gets about 3.25 inches of lift .
AAL=add a leaf configurations will settle somewhat over time but it sure is a nice way to cheaply get your rig higher for the trail.

P.S. 2" spacers should be the max that you would ever consider in the front... any more and your asking for it to jump out during articulation.

articulation? not going to have much of that with 2" lift and 31's. I'm running 31's with a 4.5 kit
