Default can I add a hitch?

dumb question, but can you add a hitch to any XJ, or does the jeep need a special upgrade first? I drive a 2001 cherokee sport with a 4.0L 6 cylinder.

yes you can but depending on the towing you might want to add a tranny cooler

Not just the weight of what your towing but the overall picture of your towing. A tranny cooler is always a good Idea especially if your vehicle is used for towing. But things to condsider would be weight of whatever is being towed. Complete weight not just cargo. Terrain that the jeep will be towing over. climate. A/C use etc. It's really not this complicated, in my opinion slap on a cooler and properly install the hitch and take your time in doing the wiring. Do it right do it once. and you won't have any issues unless you try and haul the titanic with your jeep.
