Default camshaft sensor?

My father in-law gave me a his old 93 xj sport and it runs but only for so long then it either dies on it's own or when you turn it off it won't fire back up. But if you let it sit for a couple hrs or so it'll fire back up. I've check the cps and it's fine and i'm getting fuel I'm thinking its the camshaft sensor but I want to get a second opinion first.

it doesn't have a camshaft sensor. What did you do to check the crank sensor?

??? it will have a dist pick-up coil, He will have to catch it not running and diagnose from there. check power to the coil and dist pulse, chances are (i agree with zach) its not likley to be the problem. prob intermittent cps

Was your question to me or to him?

yea that was the first thing i did was check all the connectors for corrosion or if they were lose.
its also a new cps he put it on a couple months ago trying to fix the issue with no luck, not saying it couldn't be bad from the company, just realizing i hadn't explained that yet

or you have a CPS on its way out. if all the connections are good then one of those two is bound to be your problem

test the coil. swap it out for a known good one if you can and see if that fixes the problem
