Default CAD Bypass - good for the street??

https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f51/fr...ss-91-a-38629/

The above link and a few other ways seem to be common for a quick fix to lock the front disconnect. It makes sense for off road use, but what about the street?? I am having some (4WD) vacuum issues on my '90 and am looking for a way to get through the winter (Colorado). From what I've read, the 91+ Cherokees switched to a solid axle anyway. Did the diff change for 91+ too?? Wouldn't a solid axle cause wheel hop all day long on the street?? I'm new to the Jeep world, so ANY knowledge is welcome. Your help is greatly appreciated.

the ONLY difference will be that your front driveshaft will turn at all times, just like a non-CAD axle. this will use a wee bit more fuel and cause a wee bit more wear on your u-joints...

you will be fine.

Nope, no wheel hop, still street-able. there's a disconnect from the center diff, and all your doing is taking that disconnect away, the axle shaft will still come into the diff, and essentially work like your rear driveshaft, just without the engine driving the axle when the transfer isn't in 4hi or 4low.
