Well, obviously not an Ox, duh, don't make it for the 8.25. You get my point though.

The only selectable locker available for the 8.25 is an ARB. Since it rplaces the existing carrier you'd have to invesr in some tools and and a lot of time.

I'd suggest a Powertrax No-Slip lunch-box locker. You can install it yoursefl in an afternoon.

The PowerTrax NoSlip is an automatic locker similar to the Aussie right? If I remember correctly the main difference is the NoSlip uses some sort of clutch or other device to make the transition between locked and open smoother, is this correct?

My only concern with an automatic locker is the amount of time I spend on ice and snow. I have no experience driving an automatic locker (I had a 2006 Tacoma with OEM elocker that was BADASS but the rear end would break loose real easy on ice and snow if you weren't going super slow and being super careful). I'm concerned about fishtailing around a curve and rolling down a 500' cliff because my locker did what it was supposed to do but did it at the wrong time.

I'm also concerned about ratcheting, and tire wear and clunks and bangs. Like I said, I only know the reputation of auto lockers - I have never ridden in or driven a vehicle with one so I have no real experience to draw on.

An ARB might be a better investment then.

gears don't really "wear out" i wouldn't touch the rear unless you are going with a locker or lsd..or changing ratio's

Kinda what I'm thinking. That'll have to come later though. Those jokers are expensive! Nevermind the shop costs to get everything set up.

Because once the carrier or bearings are replaced the gears will need to be set again. Adjuster or shims...makes no difference.

see i don't know how close the 8.8 is to bolt in but i do know that not everyone has a welder and torches..i have a 29 spline c8.25 (yes i understand it's no super axle) with 32s and haven't had any issue...he's only saying 31-32" tires..plus the costs of the axle on top of gears...posi... i see the trac-locs on ebay for a 29spline for a under $300 and just a pair of jy axles he's in business..
