A/C worked all summer last year and I went to kick it on for the first time this year and it didnt work and was blowing out of the defrost only so low and behold I had a vacuum leak by the battery on the cruise control so I managed to fix that issue but still no cold air and the clutch wasnt engaging. I bypassed the low pressure switch and still no go. the clutch turns like it should by hand with enough resistance but not locked up and not too loose. I havent gotten a chance to throw a jumper to the coil or test light the coils plug yet, but is that a common issue? the efan works like it should and the system has pressure. Anything I'm missing here?

After you verify the compressor is still working make sure that you do have the right freon pressure. If you don't that can cause it not to kick in. Just something to look at.

 

i'm a dummy. forgot I pulled the relay to put in a different location this winter when it wouldnt start due to the fuel pump relay and when i got a new one accidentally put it in the abs location on the pdc (doesnt even have abs) so I just put it in the correct spot and shazam it works. i feel like a complete idiot now!
