Default A/C not taking r134a

Hi, I have a 1999 Jeep Cherokee XJ, originally my clutch went bad on it so I took the clutch off and used the compressor as just a pulley. I decided to fix my compressor, so I bought a new one, drained all the old Freon, which it was full of, replaced the compressor, and now the system won’t take any Freon in the low pressure outlet. The clutch turns on, and I have the air on high, and it won’t take the Freon, the gauge reads zero, does anyone have any advice.

Sounds like the access core needs to be replaced or your hose has lost it's depressor.

Are you using a self sealing type of r134 can?

Holding the bottle with the top facing down while filling?

Can you post a picture of the setup you are using to fill the system?

If you are using a line and gauge that you get at local auto parts stores, check the cans and see if they are labeled as “self sealing” cans. If they are (I just had this problem yesterday lol) you will need an adapter for your line set.
Its a $2.95 plastic adapter that goes between the can and the line. It will be next to the gage sets and the freon cans.

These are the two setups that I’ve been using, I think they are self sealing cans, but I thought the hose and gauges were compatible with the cans. Any thoughts?

I think you need the little add on for self sealing cans. They are newer than your gear. Thank California for your additional trip to the parts store.

Those look like Walmart self sealing cans to me.
Tough to be sure. I looked on there website and it looks like them.
Says right on the side if they are.

You can tell by looking down the top.
If the top is solid, like it was soldered over then it is not.
If you can see a little stem in there then it is.
OK. so I am pretty sure you are using the gauge set up in the second shot off one of these:

I am betting that is not for self sealing cans.
The first I can't be sure of the tap.
So I am thinking either buy this:

or this:

I was reading some things online and the second picture should work with self sealing cans it said. But the cans look like they have a little red dot inside which I am assuming is the self sealing mechanism. I could try and buy some a/c pro with the hose already on it, but I’m not sure to spend $40 and then if it doesn’t work. Lol

Are you sure those are self sealing cans?
If so show me pictures of inside both of your set ups.
I want to see what it looks inside where it attaches to the can.
I have a couple AC Pro set ups and a self sealing can tap. I want to compare yours to mine.

I’ll post a picture when I get home, the link you posted of the Walmart ones are correct, they say self sealing valve.

You might be able to save yourself the trouble if this is clear enough.
My AC Pro things have a needle with a hole in it in there. I almost positive that these are not self sealing can ones.
Now my tap is a self sealing can one that I used with a manifold gauge set I borrowed from my friend but
he has a 30 lb tank of 134 so I needed the tap to use with is gauge set set for the small cans.
Anyway that is just a solid little plunger in there. Which most likely presses down on the plunger in the can to release the freon
when you screw it down.
