My 2001 Jeep Cherokee XJ a/c is blowing cool/warm out of the drivers side vents and cold out of the passenger side vents. What could be the issue?

 

I'm purely speculating here, but maybe an issue where the evaporator is partially clogged so that only portions of it are functioning... possibly a slightly "off" blend door (or bad seals) that are allowing hot air to escape more into the driver's side than the passengers.

I'll be interested to see what the more knowledgeable folks think is going on.

 

Thanks for the reply. This a/c unit has been a real pain in the neck. I read a post that had suggested a Heatertreater blendoor to replace the plastic one to help with efficiency. What makes me nervous about your post is that before last winter I had the heater core and evaporater replaced along with the blendoor actuator (labor cost was crazy). Now wondering if it could be the part. Also, it’s 90’s in TN right now and the a/c might as well just be a fan running. I really hope someone has had this happen to them or knows a solution. This could be costly to have to take the dash apart again.

I once had mice die in the heater (blower motor) and it made an awful racket (back in my 89 Toyota Camry wagon I was gifted my freshman year of college), my Dad got the mice out after months of listening to them rattling around. They never smelled, they just dried out like beef jerky... lolol.
