if your junk yard doesn't have a jeep one, my dad's 96 dodge ram has one just like my 99xj. same hook up, and bolt pattern. This should be something that you could do your self.

uhhhh, I was able to unhook and rehook everything up in my garage. The only problem i had was the bolt you use to let the tension off the belt got stuck and broke. that is a 10 dollar bolt you need to get from a dealer. does that help?

oh was afraid I needed to be careful with the refrigerent on the a.c side and the high pressure. Also did you chang ethe dryer and condensor like the websites say are required.

Default "95 Cherokee A/C compressor install

What should I worry about on this install? I am popping my cherry on this. My concerns are the two lines on the rear of the compressor.(709T) The wiring and 4 bolts are pretty self explainatory. I am worried that the lines are pressured and so forth. Any knowlegde would be very helpful. i have never worked an A/C compressor before.

Labor is going to kill you. My guesstamation is about 250-400 dollars at mechanics in my Area. But that’s for the good ones but u also get what u pay for. Just make sure when u replace the compressor u replace the accumulator and orifice tubes because most auto parts stores will void the warranty if not installed at the same time. This is due to possible contaminates and metal particles that might be left in from the failing system before.

Also if you don't have experience and or a friend with experience i wouldn't recommend doing it. I had to do my Mustangs 3 times before getting it leak free and working correctly the first time I did one.

I should add that I am not new to mechanics just to working on the A/C unit on a vehicle. I do almost all my own work, and would like to avoid paying someone else to do something that I believe I can do. The current labor rates at shops are insane.

To do this right and legally, you need to have an AC shop recover the refrigerant in it, then change out your compressor. Yes the filter drier should be changed. Then have the system charged. It is illegal to just vent the refrigerant.

If your system was working, then you don't have to change out anything else.
