ok, first what kind of exhaust do you want? and why are you replacing your muffler? you should be aware that those glasspacks(red tubes) are pretty noisy. some like em, some dont, i find them annoying. the cherry bomb turbo will be slightly louder than stock muffler.

the turbo will be shorter than stock muffler, so you will need a short length of tube. what you want is 2 1/4 in/out for the muffler. i personally would suggest getting a new tailpipe while your at it and replace everything after the cat. this is assuming you are replacing because it is worn, if you are just going for loud than disregard what i said and just get the glasspack.

either way, no it will likely not just slip in/out. you will most likely need to take the grinder to your current setup to get your old muffler out. dont use any goop or anything, just new clamps and you should be good to go.

I myself, try not to get the policeman's attention. Might as well put a sign on the back. "HEY! PULL ME OVER"

if you go cherry bomb glass pack (mine was a direct bolt in once i cut off the stock muffler) all you need to do is measure, cut the muffler out (leaving about 2-3" short on both sides) then clamp it in. i have posted some pictures for you. i needed the adapter since it was a 2.5" cherry bomb since i was upgrading my exhaust system shortly.

I put a glasspack on my 83 S-15 4x4 2.8L V6 back in the day. It sounded pretty good on that engine. As was said before, i did have to cut the old muffler out, and the new one was a bit of a struggle to get on, but it only took like 10 minutes to get on. I definitely recommend using clamps, not just some kind of glue. Unless you have a welder available, and you want to make it premanent, then use that. I've never heard a glasspack on a cherokee in real life, but you can youtube it and hear what they sound like.

Also, i just slapped the glasspack on and didn't add any end pipe to it, so the exhaust ended right below my bed. I didn't notice any significant heat increase with the exhaust ending there, and i felt it was safe enough as long as i didn't leave it idling for too long and kept it moving.

When I was taking my muffler off I saw the stock clamps and tried loosening them up and they either broke or loosened up just enough to let the muffler move a little bit but that was it. Finally took the angle grinder out and 5 minutes later I had it off.
