Anyone seen these? Saw one today in an Australian offroad magazine. They look pretty cools and make sense. surprised I've never seen em before. they retail for about 800$ AUS. I'd be tempted to try this over a fancy Warn winch that is still prone to failure due to moisture and abuse.

Very cool concept I would love to pick one up but for $800 bucks I would just buy a winch. I have very little extra room in my rig as it is. I don't need to haul that set up around too.

Two problems I see. First you would have to have the axle locked or else it wouldn't budge and second looks like it would pull it out sideways and put you in a bind.

agreed 800 is too much. put on a winch. more predictable and proven over and over

Google Titan Winch. I picked up a 12000lb with wire last summer, synthetic is available. Duncan donated profits to the club charity even with the no tax event, with excellent quality ****** block and HD shackels, cover, and wireless remote, under $500 cdn. Lots of Titans with heavy use in the club, keep on pullin. google Titan Winch for site, info options, etc.

UMMMM, lets see, get out of my Jeep spool cable to winching point, get back in, toggle the switch, and start winching, maybe 2 minutes v.s. get out of my Jeep bolt on somekind of contraption to my wheel, (I didn't see them doing this in a mud pit) at least double the time + more labor involved

Totally worthless and ridiculous

i don't think the allure of the bush winch is speed, theres no argument that a real winch is faster.

i think the reason why the bush winch might be popular is that it should never fail. there aren't any moving parts with mechanical and electrical problems like a regular winch that can break and render it useless.

I would like to see it used with an open diff like almost all 4Xs come with. It wouldn't turn a bit while the other tire spins.

Hadn't looked at it close enough to see it goes on both sides but what stops the rope from cutting into your bumper or at the least eating the paint off.

thats is so so silly. it would take a while to hook it up. and in most cases the wheels are stuck or covered by something. just not worth the room it will take in your rig

Sorry, but this product looks like it would be a real pain in the
you-know-what to have to set up and use in deep mud, snow, sand, etc.
For $800.00, IMO, you can buy a real winch, without having to deal with the inconvienience of setting up this (I have to say it) monstrosity, and be on your way in a far shorter time.
