Default Bumper/Trim restore?

any advice on cheapest and best way to restore or resurface my faded bumber and trim peices? I tried some Mothers Back to black, and got some darkness but wasnt satisfied, applied a thin rubber coating to the front bumper to see what look it would have, it chipped off which was expected as i wanted to be able to power wash it off in case i didnt like it. Im thinking just a sand job and some primer and then flat black rattle can would work best and be cost efficient? anyone have any otehr ideas?

Are you talking about the rubber portion or the metal? If you are talking about the rubber. You can use some of the spray on bed liner. But if you want cheap or should I say free. Get a heat gun or a hair dryer and put some heat to the rubber until you get it the darkness you are looking for. Just make sure that you don't leave the heat gun in one place, keep it moving. It will take a little time and don't expect it to be darker then it originally was.

Use a green scouring pad, it'll clean off the faded plastic.

You would have to prep by sanding and what ever else the brand calls for or it will just peel off. I know that I have read a couple of different brands and they are pretty much the same for the prep but maybe a few slight differences.

Aljay, what did you do them with?

I assume the Duplicolor is what I've seen at Walmart in the auto paint section. Looks like it is just a step up from flat. Thinking about doing the metal part of my '93 bumpers with it and wondering how tough it is.
