Broken fuel tank vent

Broken fuel tank vent
On my 96 cherokee The metal vent line rotted out and broke a good 1 1/2 feet before the gas tank and I can't find a replacement any where. Has any body dealt with this issue before? Should I just extend the hose to where it broke, clamp it and call it a day? Or is it a little more complex than that?
