Default Broken driver's side door lock - how to fix?

My '90 Cherokee's driver side door's lock is broken. Key won't fit anymore, and the last time I tried it almost got stuck in there for good. It unlocks fine from the inside, just not from the door w/ a key. It's an power lock, so I have no idea how that mechanism works.

Is that the sort of thing a guy could fix on his own, or do I need someone professional to put a new one in? Since they probably have to key it for my existing keys, I'm assuming the latter.

And if that's the case, who provides that sort of service? I called a locksmith and they said they couldnt' do it... and so I'm at a loss.

Thanks for the help

try dumping some graphite oil in the tumbler works great on locks you can get it homedepot or lowes ect then get some oil and take off your door panel and oil it up on the inside if that dont work you might have to get new locks the dealer probably could provide you with some insight about the locks

graphite for locks is a powder

It sounds like the pins & springs in the lock cylinder are messed up/worn/damaged, but your key might be worn, too.
First thing to try would be a small amount of lube...TriFlow is good, WD-40 is OK. Graphite is OK, too...Just don't drown the lock in lube. (Less is more sometimes.)
If that doesn't help, this is what I would do:
Get a new lock cylinder from a parts store or dealer, or a used one from a junkyard. (Make sure your existing key fits into the lock).
Take the new cylinder to a locksmith and have him pin it to your old key, and have him make a new copy of your old key to factory specs. (not just a duplicate key).
Take the lock to a body shop and have them install the cylinder in your door..or do it yourself.
(This job is a PITA, better left for somebody else....gotta remove door panel and pretty much stick your whole arm inside the door..lots of sharp edges which shred your arm. <ask me how I know this> Having power locks makes it even MORE fun.)
The problem with drivers door locks is they get used the most, so they wear out first.
Hope this helps! Good luck!
