Default Broke Something But Don't Know What!

Hi there,

While changing my oil filter (from above), I busted a small piece of something. I'm not sure what it is, but located just above and slightly to the right of my oil filter on my 96 XJ.

Attached are some pics! Help me figure out what this is?

This is what the piece sits in on the car
This is how it should look not broken
This pic shows where it is broken
Thanks for the help!

Oil pressure switch (some call it a sensor or sending unit). On a 96, with a simple cluster, it simply detects oil pressure is present.

There are two available. One for an "idiot light" and one for a gauge. Make sure you get the one that matches your type of dash cluster.

Mine is just like the one linked. Thanks for that note! Any differences between the two other than how they match up with the dash cluster?

Here's the thing. Our '96s are a change over yr. When I changed out my basic cluster for a gauge cluster I also needed to change out the temp and oil senders. Found out my old temp sensor was for a '97. Best to take the broken send unit with you and match it to a new one.
