my 87 wasnt charging the battery while it was running so i did a quick alternator test. with jeep off battery read 12.4, started her up, it read 12.3. alternator bad. replaced it, tested it, same results.
i looked to make sure i had hooked up the wire from battery to alternator and found another plug, that wasn't in use when i took my old one out.
any ideas or suggestions would help.

IIRC the renix alt is internally regulated so the other wire should be for your gauge in the dash. any issues with the main wire to the battery? battery terminals fresh?

X2^ It's regulator is internal. I guess later it's in the PCM, (not your ECU).
Idk where it gets the current it uses for the rotor......in my signature there is a link "C-101 cleaning"...you might want to do that anyway and see if it helps.
Btw when my belt is loose that seems to be the first place it shows.
