Default brakes wont change when pedal is pressed

I got an 88 4.0 cherokee. With no brake lights.. I've replaced the bulbs, the brake switch under the pedal.. still won't light up the second filiment in the bulb. Turn my parking lights on and they light up the first filiments. I dont no a lot about electrical issues, but if someone knows something I don't please let me know.. I don't wana get my xj rear ended

And sorry so long to reply. been out messing with it. I also have no low beams.. replaced the head lights today as well and still nothing. High beams work great. And all my parking lights, blinkers, tail lights, reverse lights all work. Going crazy..

The brake light switch should be pressed in by the brake pedal when the brakes are not applied.
When you apply the brakes the plunger comes out & grounds out the switch, thus activating the brake lights.

No, check to make sure you have power to the low beam side. How,I have no FUKING clue.

Its bolted threw my brake pedal. Doesnt seem to depress or anything from Wat I can see. The switch its self moves with the pedal. I put it on just like it was.
If I had the wrong wires hooked up to it wouldn't it fry a fuse? I haven't blown one at all

Have you replaced the bulb in the third brake light? Does it work?

Is that the one that actually lights up as my breaks? Bc I figured it was the top one with two filiments in it. Bc the third one just has one. Let me go look... Haha. They were all working when I had it off earlyer.
