Default Brakes..... Help!

Sup guys, the last few weeks my brakes have not been working, they would work but I would have to press down on the pedal extremely hard. ( Pedal would go almost all the way down). I spotted brake fluid on my right rear tire so I just finished replacing both wheel cylinders and brake shoes. Now it is much much better. But when I come too a hard stop, I hear some type of Deep rattle sound. I think its coming from the front. ( Like if its struggling to keep the front wheels stopped).. OH one more thing the emergency brake only works a tiny bit, when I yank it hard all the way. Thought id' give it a shot, maybe someone can help. Thanks!

Are your front rotors warped?

So you got the rears all nice, might as well have the rotors checked/turned and go ahead and get that straight.
Sounds like you need to adjust those rear shoes. That's directly related to the travel of your E-Brake. I like to tighten them until I can't turn the wheel at, all then back it off until it turns free, (almost completely). I don't remember needing to adjust the E Brake cable in ether Jeep in years. Don't think they stretch much. Just the shoes wearing is where the play comes from. They are suppose to auto adjust but mine don't, probably because I never use the E-Brake.

For people who use the parking brake regularly there is an adjustment to take the slack out of it.

It's like $12.50 for turning...I've never had them say "Oh this one is fine, just go with it" I suppose they could/should if that is the case. Pads can be pretty cheap.

You do know I mean adjusting the shoes through the backing plate, not adjusting the E-brake cable. You would do the cable last if it needs it. Just wanted to be clear, good luck...D.

Applying then releasing the E-brake is suppose to actuate a lever that engages and turns the adjusting wheel for the rear shoes, if there is play enough. In my experience those things never seem to work as they should. Maybe if I always set the brake.....

Adjust your rear shoes, make sure theres no air in the lines.

Rear shoe adjustment is DIRECTLY related to brake pedal height and when the parking brake engages.

If your front brakes were fine before, and you didnt mess with them, why would they be causing whats going on now? If you changed something on the truck, and now its making noise or not working right, good chance its something you did/didnt do.

KISS principle, keep it simple......
