I did my brakes on my 2000 xj about a month ago. There's 191k miles on it. All I replaced was brake pads and rotors. The driver side looks normally worn already. The passenger side rotor STILL has some of the new rotor cross hatching on the front and back surfaces. It seems like the calpier isnt sqeezing the rotor properly. Also, there's a squeal coming from that side. Anyone have any ideas?

Sounds like a bad caliper.

Could be a stuck brake piston, bound up brake line or a few other things. I would say jack it up and have someone apply brakes to see if the one with the good rotor is grabbing at all. If not, go from there.

Could be your pads aren't seated correctly on that side. Jack it back up and make sure the pad notches are flush with the mounting. Take it back out and reinstall with some brake quieting lube at all the metal to metal contact points (making sure you don't get any lube on the rotor).

Another possibility is that you kinked the brake line.
