Default brake rotors...

Can you upgrade the older composite rotors that comes on the 91's with full cast ones?

i bet you could im guessing that as long as a new one installs the same you could. im betting thats all that would hinder it. id say find ones from the first model that they started with the cast rotors i bet its a close match up but i bet that as long as they are the rotors that just fit over the studs that any rotor with the same bolt patern will work as well as the same distance from the face of the rotor to the drum lookin deal that sticks out from the braking surface

why? im pretty sure you cant. the spacing on the 00-01 hubs are different, so the spacing on the rotors makes up for the difference. i dont think the caliper would line up correctly.

To change rotor types, you need new hub bearing assemblies for the rotors, AND new caliper knuckle mounts.

Correct. The 00/01 XJ's have a different rotor compared to everything else. And I believe the 84-87 ones are different also... Everything between there,88-99, have the same. I know 92 thru 99 are the same, and they're the same as the Wrangler rotors too, which I found are cheaper on ebay when listed for that instead of the XJ.

Only reason I ask is local parts houses like napa and advanced show an option for a cast rotor. The only difference is the height...composite is 3 3/16 and cast is 3 13/16. But says it will fit the 91..That is the only reason I ask..I guess when I buy rotors I will take a look at them and compare them to see..
