When my Jeep is parked, completely off, no key in the ignition, door open or closed, you can hit the brake pedal and get a "ding!"....repeatedly, if you keep tapping it.
What's the purpose of this? Why on earth did the designers feel like I needed to be alerted of a pressed brake pedal in park, with the vehicle off? Anyone have an explanation for this? Is mine the only one that does it?

I can honestly say I've never heard of that before. Sounds like the wiring in fuse box may be "customized".
Does it chime when the lights are left on? when the doors open?
