brake marker light goes out when brake applied on right rear.

brake marker light goes out when brake applied on right rear.
got pulled over lastnight with a warning. Cop said when i use the brake the park light on the right rear goes out with no brake light, but the left side is working perfect. anyone have this same problem or know how to correct it ?
