Default Brake lights wont tun off.

Ok I have an 89 xj 4.0 limited package. The other day some told me I had left me lights on. And I saw my brake lights were on and I couldn't get them to turn off. So I unpluged the brake light switch for now. I'm thinking its a ground but it would help if some one else has had this issue and knew where it was to save me some time!
Thanks!

Will do I just put the switch in about 6 months ago so that's a good possibility. Thanks!

This was happening on my 99 JGC when I bought it...I just now read this and went out and adjusted the switch "plunger" out a notch till it clicked and it seems to have solved the problem!

If you got a parts house Brake Pedal switch then it could very well be bad after 6 months. I went through 3 of them before I wizened up and spend the $3 extra to get one from the dealership.
