Default Brake Lights not working.

Im so lost when it comes to this now.
2001 Jeep Cherokee

All three brake lights are not working when pedal is pressed.

Running lights working
All lights replaced
Reverse rights work
Turn signals/Hazards work
Brake light switch replaced measured voltage to the plug pin 5 and 6 getting 11.84V
All fuses are good not blown (#7 & 23 including under the hood)

I dont know where all the grounds are aside from the 2 on left rear panel. I had to remove the trailer harness in order to get my drivers side running lights working there was a small cut in one of the wires once i removed it and i didnt blow #7 and my running lights came back however lost brake lights. Im wondering if the trailer harness was part of the whole circuit and needs to be grounded.

I removed the brake light switch to make testing easier and I measured pin 5 and 6 i get 11.4V and it drops to 0 when i "play" switch. I put back the switch and did the adjustment and it doesnt touch when the brake pedal is pressed.

Ground with trailer harness not needed for regulal lighting . Check for current at plug to lights by back stabbing also check for ground could just be bad connection at plugs.

the plunger sits against the brake pedal at rest and when the brake pedal is pressed i watch it sit 1/8" away from the pedal. i thought that this is normal operation.

so even though my running lights work the plugs could be bad and cause both brake lights to not work?

Switch needs to be adjusted should be no gap.

Maybe i missed something here, but brake lights power usually comes through the turn signal switch....

Ok so powers going thru switch. No check at harness at rear where trailer harness was plugged in. Or go some where else and dont ...
