brake light out - question about rewiring
My rear passenger side brake light will not light, all other lights are functioning perfectly. I have tried another bulb and believe it must be a short or bad wiring as it is such an isolated issue.
Has anyone had a similar problem that may be able to offer a solution?
The utilitarian in me just wants to patch a wire from the drivers side (which I'm assuming is not a good solution).
Trying to tackle this today - As always, I appreciate your help.

word - is that like a 12 ga wire?
I tested the light plug - .03 volts.
Removed plug and tested wires - .03 volts.
The functioning brake light ranges from 10-almost 12v.
Can I get one more affirmation that I can simply drop in a wire from the other side, before I get b*lls deep in this one
Thanks for the help!!!!!
I like upgrades, not so much fixes -- I've replaced and rewired the front clip, fixed a bent frame rail, etc.... I wish it was as simple as buying a jeep and a lift kit and calling it a day. Naturally, it's not.
I refuse to drive without the brake light. I am not a fan of the 5-0, and have already been rear ended 2x. Soo... Thanks! I'm digging up my haynes manual.
Are you sure if I drop in a wire from the other brake light that's not too heavy of a load to power both lights and for the wiring itself?

I'm just posting to make this thread more complete.
Apparently, patching a wire from one side to the other is the most common solution.
Here is a post from a do it yourself forum about this issue:

To test your auto wiring with a multimeter, btw - set it to 20 volts.
I will post with finished results so if someone searches in the future the whole cookie can be found right here.

yeah it'll work. at the brake pedal there is an actuator that sents current out 2 wires to each of the brake lights. one of mine was correded and a pain to replace, so i cleaned the good one, and spliced into the good one towards the rea of the truck, then just brought it over the the light that didn't work.

Have 96 Orvis Edition and the headlights will cut off when I tilt the wheel, have to move up and down till you find spot so they stay on. Sun roof works when it wants to. And message board says I have rear lamp failure and all rear lights work just fine. Any thoughts or ideas.
