Hi all, I am new to Jeep territory. I just got a 91 Cherokee and the brake light in the dash is on along with the maintence required lights, brake pedal is hard and has got to be pushed hard to stop. The rig stops ok just not easy. Listened for a vac leak and did not hear anything, noticed that this does not have the vac boost that I was expecting. Are these a hydroboost brake system? If you guys have any insight it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I thaught air too but the pedal is very firm like it does not have any assist. My old Ford Diesel did the same thing when the booster took a dump. As far as abs, I need to look at it closer, did not have time tonight to look at it.
It to is a limited, I have some big plans for this thing. My buddy runs a offroad business with his brother and they are looking to get me a rough country lift for it. Tryin to get it up on 33's. Need to get the brake issue figured out first though.
An other question for you guys, can I use a good reenforced rubber line for my trans cooler lines? They are currently the crappy steel ones and are leaking. I really appreciate all the help. Thanks again.

Not a vac booster between the firewall and the master. There is this block next to it with a accumulator on top, it is weird and hard to explain. For the record, I work in the diesel truck repair industry and came from autos first, went to school for both so I am not completly dumb
. I did not post that to be rude, just as a back ground for everyone. So, it looks more like a hydroboost system to me, again not sure since there looks to be vac lines running all over this thing. If there is a vac booster, can you explain where it is and what it looks like, I am more of a traditional booster kind of thinker as it should be on the firewall behind the master. I may just need to buy the Hayes book.
