Brake Light Issues
Hello,
I am brand new to the forum. I have an '89 Cherokee XJ 4.0 6 cyl., automatic.
When I press on my brake pedal, my brake lights work when they want to. I know an adjustment can be done to fix this, I'm just not sure how to do it.
Does anyone know of where i can go online to get a how to on doing this? I am hoping to tackle the problem this weekend.
I hope i didn't post this in the wrong thread. Thank you for your help.

Hi, 89! Welcome!
Are you thinking of the brake light switch? That can be adjusted. It's on the arm that holds the brake pedal. Stick your neck under there and you'll probably be able to see it.
It's also possible that the switch is just on its way out. In that case, a replacement is in order.
I did a quick search on The Tube of You, and didn't find anything specific to a Cherokee, but most cars are similar. You might find one of these useful.

How much of a wrench turner are you? If you are pretty handy, what I've given may be enough to point you in the right direction.
If you are new to this, holler and we'll try to give more specific instructions.
