Default Brake job

So im not a super handy person. Decided to take my jeep to the shop for some brake work i knew needed done. Ending up replacing the front pads and rotors. Differential flush oil change power steering flush, and alignment. The total was about $800 sound reasonable? or did i get killed on the price. I really need to learn more about working on cars myself

yeah thats about 75.00 in parts... and other then the alignment the rest can be done with simples tools. I would look for a Haynes Manuel - they have simple stuff like that broken down.. alone with searches on this site - a lot of good write ups have been done by members..

unless they are facny - AZ has basic rotors for 22.50 each.. pads for 20.

even if they can say 200 of its parts - 600.00 for maybe 2 hours work?

Good quality rotors from say napa are about $40 each and good ceramic pads about $60 brake hardware about $10..So you are looking at around $150 plus tax on the front brakes..Diff flush is a tube of rtv and oil for about $2 a pint..Power steering fluid and some time not much more then a few dollars..So you are looking at around $200 or less for all the parts needed and a satruday afternoon..What kills you at a shop is they don't do it by parts and labor they usually have a set price for each job plus parts..Brakes say around $80 per axle and then diff pribably $60 or so per axle then power steering...Alignment usually around $80 or less...I would only take the jeep to a shop for major stuff I can't do solo or do not have the proper tools or info available to do it myself. What I am curious about is how they do a power steering flush...I have always just sucked all the fluid out then refill with new fluid..probably not the proper way but I also do that at the master cylinder with a turkey injector thing to get the fluid out then refill with new fluid. seems to have always work just fine.
