Default brake issue ?

k, I get brake squeal and pulsating after brakes get warm. have noticed that the rear wheel (left only) shudders when stopping. replaced drum and pads to no avail. Does this sound more like a sticky wheel cylinder or something else I am not seeing. Have adjusted the brake adjuster...did not help. The shudder is like a grabbing and releasing of the brakes not a side to side motion as a wheel bearing would indicate... also get a releasing noise from the rear when I move forward from a stop. thx for any help.

In my 96 it kinda did that, but without the squeaking. It also had a tendency to lock up the wheel under low brake pressure on loose surfaces. I rebuilt the whole drum system and found the cylinders had really bad corrosion and all the rubber seals were shot. They were slow-leaking fluid inside the drums and sticking at the same time. The fluid that came out was black from the dissolving seals! If you got new drums/shoes and tried adjusting them but didn't touch the cylinders I'd open them back up and take a look at those. I think a new cylinder is only like 25 bucks anyway. If you didn't replace the springs and hardware I'd do that too. Most of those little parts are pretty cheap. Probably a good time to flush the brake lines and get some new fluid in there unless you've done that already. If you don't replace/flush the brake fluid often enough, it absorbs water and dissolves/corrodes things from the inside out. I learned that the hard way.

It appears that the wire has stretched that puts tension on the adjuster and I am getting a glazing on the overworked front discs. will rebuild the rear brake assemblies and check for warped drums and discs. ditto on the fluid change. thx for the help
