bpe and rear shock question

bpe and rear shock question
today i finally got my old rear shocks out...i have new shocks waiting to go in and they have bar pins on the top...i bought bpe's or bar pin eliminators for them also do i have to buy a shock without the bar pin or can you just press the bar pin out and use the bpe's??? searched but results were lacking good info
