i was under my jeep today and noticed a box. it was located just in front of the rear axle on driver side. looks like it had my fuel line going into it. will try and get some pics up tommro

 

i have the same thing it is a evap canister it is something for emissions dont mess with it or it wont pass smog. all the new jeep's have them.

 

Yep.. its your Evap canister. The older models have it under the hood against the firewall.

 

can this canister be harmed by brown-colored water like my avatar? or is it watertight? I too noticed that box the other day. I thought the gov't had a gps tracking device in there and were tracking my ****.

 

I don't know if the one under the tail is watertight... But the one under the hood is not and can be harmed by that brown water stuff... or leaking coolant(as its right underneath the heater valve)... The stuff inside will fill up with water and cause it to fail...
