You said that you changed the water pump recently. Was the impeller intact? There is usually a lot of electrolytic slimes in the system when a component has degraded.

Believe it or not, slimes is the technical term for the sediment left over in an electrolytic cell (just pointless trivia).

It was working fine and wasnt missing pieces or anything. The pully was broken and was close to breaking off.

Okay - still probably just anode slimes/sedimentation.

Another possibility is previous owner/shop contamination. I've seen some weird things done to vehicle cooling systems over the years. My SJ Cherokee took HOURS (and a new heater core) to flush all the crud from the original owner's habit of putting Bar's Leaks in it regardless of the fact that it didn't leak. The old guy actually told me he put it in twice a year as a PM item, because the bottle said it lubed the water pump!

Hahaha!
I have all the maintenance records for my Jeep since 34k miles. There was a complete cooling system overhaul including the heater core replacement about 30k ago. Coolant color was fairly green, but the slime inside was like mud.
