Remember, with a 2" shackle you're only getting 1" of lift, because only one side of the spring is being lifted.

ok i found a full 6.5 inch leaf pack from rusty's for about 300 with shipping does anyone know where i might be able to find any cheaper? also what about a add-a-leaf they are roughly the same price as blocks or shackles and i can get a full length leaf. what are your opinions on that? and is it going to make my jeep ride alot rougher?

Your original post said you just needed to raise the rear up 2'' to make it level you could do that with a bastard pack(main s10 spring under you xj main)and it would only cost you about 60 dollars.and it wont sag like a aal over time

i've already got one on there i raised the front end 6.5 inches and the rear is now 3 inches off from being level that is my real problem i was just wanting to know wheat everyone thought would be the best alternative to raise it without buying a new leaf pack and also without compromising alot of ride quality or ride safety.

i have three inch blocks on mine currently and have never had problems. however i would not recommend them i have shackles also. definitely the better stronger safer way to go.

did you use the whole s10 pack or just the main? You could could add another leaf or two, you would just have to try one and see how much lift it netted you

Dang you dont have many choices other than a full pack, blocks(cheapest but not safest way)or some sort of Frankenstein lift by adding another leaf or 2 from a XJ or s10

If its just a temporary thing I would not do the aal,They will cost more than blocks and if their not going to be on long it would kinda be a waste of money,If I were in your situation I would run the blocks(never thought i would say that)and just not do any crazy wheeling untill you get the full packs

ya i agree with not hard wheeling on blocks. my buddy had blocks on his xj and was wheeling pretty hard. broke the block and had to leave his jeep up on the trail. came back put another (temporary) block in. on the way home he bought new leaf packs and threw away the blocks away

One of my 84 XJs has homeground solid aluminum 3.5" lift blocks above its Dana 35, and I had to spend more money having a shop custom bend U-bolts for this crazy homemade contraption, that it just wasnt worth it. The blocks are solid Alcoa aluminum, and they have been BEAT on off road and havent broke apart, but Im always WORRIED that somethings gonna happen. And yes, I think that the leafs definately get stressed more, especially if you dont have bump stops. So, in other words I wouldnt go with blocks, Im gonna swap mine out for a Junkyard bastard Add-a-Leaf El Cheapo pack and some longer, greaseable shackles.
