2000 XJ 4.0L

Last night my buddy was following me home and asked why I put my hazards on everytime I turned left. Come to find out everytime I put my left blinker on the rear hazards come on. The front blinker is working correctly but both of the rear ones blink. The right blinkers work normally and so do the 4-ways when I activate the switch. I turned the 4-ways on and off a few times and the blinkers started working normally again (for now). All of the bulbs work. I'd like to fix this so it doesn't happen again in the future, I have no idea how long it was doing this, nobody has honked at me lately.

Does this sound like a wiring issue or a switch issue? Something I can fix myself?

This seems like a very odd problem, I've never heard of it before. My dad had the left blinker stop working completely on his '99 WJ, but it didn't even blink on the dash either. Ended up needing a new switch. Could a new switch fix my problem? Anyone heard of this issue?
