I just got a 96 Cherokee and I have to manually blink my turn signals.
The previous owner replaced the cd player so i was thinking it might be a wiring problem because the auto door locks don't work either. If it is a wiring problem, how much would it cost to get it rewired? Could there be another solution? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

do the hazards work? if so, you may try swapping out the flashers and see
if that helps.

The hazards work fine. I replaced the flasher and now it gets unbearably hot. I forgot to mention that the cd player don't work either.

pull the radio, marking all the wires so you can replace them, and try the blinkers.
Hopefully the po used the right connector and didn't just cut and splice the wires.
I took out my taillights/dash lights when I installed the radio in my eclipse thanks the the po's chop job.

Mines did the same thing. Replaced the blinker relay and it fixed the problem.

If the blinker relay is getting hot you have a short in your wiring

Significantly more than it would to hunt down the short and repair it. To "rewire" would mean that whoever did the job would eventually come across the short. A shop is going to charge hourly to find the short ($65-$95/hr). If you're going to be an old car owner it would benefit you to learn to do these things on your own, or at least try. Get a wiring diagram and start tracing circuits. In the mean time, use hand signals...

I got it fixed guys, thanks for the input. The guy at O'Reillys had me looking at the wrong relay. He gave me a small cylinder 3 prong, when the actual flasher relay was a 5 pronged square.
